Rio Rica Top Quality, Coffee Beans 1kg
80% Arabica, 20% Robusta · Content: 1 Kg · Roast Date: 06.2023 · MHD: 06.2025
Quality without compromise
Top Quality is the flagship blend of Rio Rica roaster. It is an amazing Espresso composition of balanced aromas and fragrances. The best Arabica from Guatemala, Haiti and Dominican Republic are coupled with the Robusta from India, Congo, Cameroon and Java Island in a ratio 80/20. The different beans are roasted separately for about 19 minutes over the constant control of Mariano. In terms of roasting grade this blend is a step above the blends from Saccaria: darkly roasted without signs of oil and essences on the surface of the beans.
Delicious from start to finish, Rio Rica Top Quality can only be loved!
We love this coffee selection. The Espresso is intense, no sour with a wonderful crema and a strong aroma: hazelnut, cocoa and bitter chocolate. The cappuccino is simply breathtaking. This fine blend of complex aromas has a great flexibility and gives excellent results with a large range of settings. It is a gourmet blend of superior quality suitable also for less expert baristas.

For years the aromas and scents of freshly roasted Rio Rica blends spread through the alleys and squares of the town centre. In the mid-eighties of last century, the Rio Rica built the new roasting plant in the industrial area of Villa Fastiggi (Pesaro).
Curious is the choice of the brand by the founder. The Rio Rica brand is a reference to the areas from which the coffee beans of the first Rio Rica blends arrived: Brazil (represented in the imagination of the time by the city of Rio de Janeiro) and Costa Rica.
The roaster Rio Rica produces its own blends according to the traditional method of "separate roasting" with "indirect fire", toasting the coffee for each individual origin. The individual selected varieties are subjected to different temperature profiles which progressively reach 200-230°C for about 15 minutes. The method and experience of Rio Rica guarantee the colour uniformity of each coffee bean and the correct formation of refined aromas of the Rio Rica bar quality blends.

The beans were packaged in a sealed 250g white bag properly equipped with a valve. I do not know whether the 1 kg bag is equipped with the valve.
The beans are medium size, uniformly roasted. I could not find any broken bean. Considering also the selling price, it is most probably a blend of high-quality coffees.
It took me a couple of shots and adjustments to get the Espresso I like. I had to adjust the grinder to a very fine setting. I got an Espresso with a dark hazelnuts colour crème, consistent and persistent but not very thick (about 2 mm).
The intensity is medium, and the taste is very balanced. Scents of bitter cocoa are clearly noticeable and persist for several minutes in the mouth.
I could feel a soft and agreeable sourness during the first one or two sips, it disappeared toward the end of the tasting.
It is for sure an interesting product which could please many espresso lovers. I am also considering it for my next order, but I do not know whether it will replace my favourite espresso.
